Do you know why children find division difficult? It is not the difficulty of the concept per se. It is the missing links (like Multiplication, Subtraction etc that are not clear) that make it harder to understand and apply.
The trick that works all the time is taking the time out in clearing the basics.
IT’S OKAY! If the child is taking more time than their peers in the classroom, keep teaching with patience and understanding and YOUR CHILD WILL GET THERE. I promise you this.
Mathematics as a subject is considered a “difficult” subject by the majority.
Yes, It has some inherent difficulties, such is the nature of the subject.
But the BIGGEST REASON in my opinion is not following the child’s pace!
Class में अगला chapter start हो गया I बच्चे को पहले Addition ही समझ नहीं आया और Subtraction पढ़ाने लगे
One concept becomes two and before we know it- it is time to learn Division, which will be difficult for them.
Allow the child their time to understand the concept. Don’t rush them. If they understand the concepts like Addition, Subtraction, Multiplication well, DIVISION won’t be hard to learn.
How is Division connected to them?
Subtraction is reverse Addition, therefore without knowing Addition it is very difficult to learn.

I CANNOT emphasise enough that students require a firm foundation. They cannot learn new concepts when the previous is not clear.
A lot of concepts are interdependent, so a thorough understanding of each topic is essential.
That is why maths can be tricky at times.
As we keep teaching and teaching without making sure that the child understands, they do not have a personal connection to it. It boils down to memorising the steps and studying hard. And when the marks don’t show the hard work- we collectively declare, maths is hard or we are bad at it.

So, the biggest trick that I would ask parents to use while teaching is to ALLOW THEM TIME TO UNDERSTAND.
Now coming back to Division and how to make the calculations faster and quicker.
Of all the Math operations, Division may be the hardest for kids to learn. When it’s hard the child starts avoiding it.
This is also to do with the overwhelm/dislike most of us feel around Maths. Parents are thinking about how to make it easy and help their child.
