Maths Olympiad Worksheets – Grade 1

3-year-old Rishabh went with his mom to the ice cream shop. It was an exceptionally hot day. As soon as he had the ice cream in his hand. The scoop fell on the floor. He cried and cried for another scoop of ice cream and this time he wanted a bigger scoop for himself.

Rishabh is only 3 and he is practising math skills without even knowing it. We can sensitize the children about numbers from toddler level as well.

Mathematical thinking comes naturally to young children. Most often it turns into pressure if the subject is not treated interestingly. For eg: You can make songs or poems about numbers or daily activities that involve math skills.

This way child is subconsciously laying a foundation for his numerical reasoning. Contrary to popular belief math is not about the practice on paper.
